Your Baby
Normal delivery takes place between 38 to 42 weeks. Most of the lanugo hair is lost and the skin is flesh coloured and plump. The baby’s head shifts downwards. Fat continues to accumulate, organ functions improve, and the placenta provides antibodies improving immunity. The baby is 19 to 21 inches and weighs 7 to 8 pounds.
Healthy Diet
Have a diet which includes fats, proteins, and vitamins. Prepare rice gruel with milk and a little ginger and cardamom. You can add jaggery for taste. Have fruits like guava, dates, raisins and oranges to improve blood circulation. Also, include fenugreek (methi) and pippali in your diet as it stimulates the uterus.
Massage
Massage the abdomen regularly and spend extra time on the nipples to prepare for nursing. Your doctor might advice anusvati basti in the last month to help the baby be in favourable position for delivery.
Yoga
Yoga has a lot of benefits for an expecting mother, and there are many asanas you can do. Here are two of them. However, practice with an experienced Yoga instructor to ensure safety.
Parvatasana
This pose improves body posture and relieves a backache which is a common complaint during pregnancy.
Balasana
This pose elongates the lower back and reduces backache. It opens up the hips and relaxes the stomach.
